Battle of Stanardsville Reenactment
Every September, the sights and sounds of the Civil War echo across the fields of Greene County, VA as history buffs reenact the Battles of Stanardsville and Rio Hill. Will you defend The Cause? Or will you join with the Union army to see that Virginia once again joins the United States of America? This event features exciting battle scenes, historical demonstrations, carriage rides, shopping, a period-accurate ball and plenty of activities for children. Fourth of July Parade
Enjoy an authentic small-town-America 4th of July parade in historic downtown Stanardsville. Celebrate Independence Day surrounded by buildings that were standing during our nation's beginnings. The festive parade down Main Street will be followed by a patriotic program on the Court House Square, with a reading of the Declaration of Independence and musical performances. Food, ice-cream, and soft drinks will be available for purchase.

Parade of Lights
Sponsored by the Greene County Chamber of Commerce, this unique parade brings the local community out in droves to create a festive spirit both in and around Greene that other events carry through the season. This parade proceeds down Main Street of historic Stanardsville and wouldn’t be complete without lively local music, warm refreshments and a final appearance by the Big Man in Red himself. VIP seats are available on the balcony of Lafayette Inn where one can watch the parade in style with adult beverages, finger foods and most importantly a heater.

Strawberry Festival
Do you like strawberries? Then be sure to come to Greene County for the 22nd anniversary of their Annual Strawberry Festival in the heart of historic Stanardsville. The event features the famous Strawberry Breakfast, as well as strawberry cakes, pies, slushies, and deserts. Lunch will be served as well. Enjoy your strawberries while listening to great gospel music, having your face painted, browsing craft booths, or watching amazing local cloggers. All proceeds are donated to charity.

Chili Cook Off
Greene County Tourism presents the 2nd annual International Chili Society Chili Cook Off on Saturday, November 10th. The event will bring local wineries, breweries, local music and food.
Cooks from around Virginia and our own community will come together to test their chili cooking skills. As this is an International Chili Society event, all chili cooks must be ICS members and will have the opportunity to move ahead to the next Chili Cook Off level.
